Bjorn D. Simundson is an international award-winning #IndustrialDesigner, #Inventor, #Futurist, #Entrepreneur and lifelong #surfer.

Bjorn focuses on commercializing “edge technology” to solve some of the world’s “most #wickedproblems.”

He holds an Bachelor’s in Business/Economics and a Master’s in Industrial Design. His undergraduate thesis focused on “Vulture Investing” using levered buyouts to uncover lost value from struggling companies and turn them around, and his MFA thesis project, “#SustainableMobility” envisioned using solar, fuel cells, and batteries in vehicles and homes to flatten electrical power demand spikes and troughs to improve grid resilience and efficiency. This 2005 project preceded the EV revolution, Tesla Wall & won the Michelin Challenge Bibendum which featured it at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. https://www.michelinchallengedesign.com

He helped co-found Molecule USA, Inc. tasked with “solving the world’s water crisis.” He learned that there is 7x more water in the air than in all of the world’s rivers, combined. Therefore, this led to a deep R&D project to pull water out of the air anywhere in the world. That led to the invention of the world’s first arctic condition capable atmospheric water generators to make on-demand pure drinking water from air to support in-field #humanitarian aid for disaster relief efforts. He presented the technology to @DARPA which then led to procurement from the @USACEHQ and featured at Army Future’s USSOCOM’s Project Convergence and featured in Fast Company. This deep R&D project levered #technologytransfer to invent a new crystalline sorbent material with 300% performance gains over silica gel so the product could work in extreme environments. This resulted in a successful exit for shareholders. His new version of this technology is now marketed under the brand name AtmosphereH2O and is now commercially available for sale to distributors and real estate developers to reduce their per-capita water demand for homes, and an independent alternative #pure #drinkingwater source as a #droughtsolution, lack of access and #cureforcontaminatedwater locations Https://atmosphereH2O.com

He helped lead a corporate turnaround of Save The World Air, Inc. (Now QS Energy) post the 2008 financial crisis, to commercialize an electrorheological invention via tech-transfer, to improve flow assurance for midstream crude oil pipelines. He designed and built a petrochemical test loop facility with the USDOE on the Strategic Petroleum Reserve #3 North of #Casper  #Wyoming to demonstrate the flow-assurance viscosity reduction technology. This led to industry interest of major pipeline operators, and a 19X return to investors during his 5 year tenure.

He created a line of microphones for Blue Mic, including a joint-project at the behest of Apple when they wanted to launch Garage band for the iPod and iPhone, resulting in the consumer product “Mikey” which turned the iPod into a portable recording studio. That award-winning #consumerelectronics product, was featured in every Apple Store, Guitar Center, Musician’s Friend and more, leading to Blue being acquired in a 9-figure deal by Logitech.

He presented the future of water, drought solutions and water in space to multiple agencies a total of four times to the White House’s Office of Science & Technology Policy.

He volunteers as a member of InfraGard’s US Natural Disaster Resilience Council (NDRC), with a focus on #Resilience technology implementation at the national level. He has been a presenter at numerous NDRC conferences, including NASA’s EnergyTech conference series, The National Disaster Resilience Council annual summits, FinTech, Water Security, and more.
